The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Nigeria’s national identity and patriotism at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The agency said its Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was represented at the tournament in Rabat by the Yobe State Director of NOA, Hajiya Zuwaira Mohammed Ali, alongside other officials of the agency.
A statement issued on Wednesday in Damaturu by the Public Relations Officer of the NOA Yobe Directorate, Sabiu Sule Maikwano, said the delegation met with Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, ahead of their match against Egypt at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
It said Ali conveyed the Director-General’s message, urging the players to approach the match with patriotism, determination and a strong sense of national pride in pursuit of victory for Nigeria.
According to the statement, the delegation also presented the Nigerian national flag and other National Identity Project materials to the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Mohammed Sanusi, as well as Nigerian supporters at the tournament to boost morale and promote patriotism.
The statement quoted Ali as urging Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to proudly display national symbols and support the country.
She said the appeal was in line with the civic responsibilities of citizens as provided in Section 24 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
Ali reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting national values, unity and civic responsibility among Nigerians through the National Identity Project, the statement added.
