By Ahmed Isah
Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe, has expressed profound appreciation to all the emirates councils in the state for their warm reception, prayers, support and traditional titles conferred on him during his recent consultation tour.
Wali expressed the appreciation while speaking briefly with newsmen on Sunday after concluding the statewide tour, which took him to the palaces of traditional rulers and stakeholders across all the emirates councils in Yobe.
He described the traditional titles conferred on him by some of the emirates as a great honour and a demonstration of confidence, saying he would cherish the gestures and regard them as a call to greater service to the people.
“I am deeply grateful to all the emirs, their councils, traditional title holders, political leaders and the people of Yobe for the warm reception, prayers and encouragement extended to us throughout this tour.
“I am equally humbled and deeply honoured by the traditional titles conferred on me by some of the emirates. I regard these honours not merely as titles, but as a responsibility and a call to serve our people with greater dedication,” Wali said.
He said the tour provided him with an opportunity to interact directly with traditional rulers and stakeholders, listen to their concerns and receive their counsel on the development of the state.
Wali commended the traditional rulers for their fatherly advice and prayers, assuring them that he would continue to respect and work closely with the traditional institution for the peace and development of Yobe.
He also assured the people that, if elected, his administration would build on the achievements of Gov. Mai Mala Buni and ensure equitable distribution of development projects and democratic dividends across the 178 wards of the state.
The APC candidate urged the people of Yobe to support the party at the forthcoming 2027 general elections by voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself and all APC candidates contesting the senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
The consultation tour was led by the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Gadaka, and included Wali, his deputy, Barrister Saleh Samanja, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi, Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, and other party leaders.
The delegation visited all the emirates councils in the state to seek royal blessings, prayers and support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the visits, the traditional rulers commended Gov. Buni for various development projects executed across the state and offered prayers and guidance to the APC governorship candidate.
Among the traditional honours conferred on Wali during the tour was the title of Sardaunan Jajere, bestowed on him by the Emir of Jajere, Dr Mai Hamza Buba Ibn Isa Mashio.
Other members of the entourage included former Deputy Governor and former Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Hon. Fatima Talba, Hon. Mohammed Buba Jajere, Hon. Tijjani Zannah Zakariya, members of the State House of Assembly, commissioners, special advisers and other government officials.
The tour ended with a renewed commitment by the APC leadership and traditional institutions to continue working together for peace, development and the overall progress of Yobe State.
