Transmission Company of Nigeria Identifies Fault Causing Northeast Power Outage
Baba Dan’iya
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully identified the fault responsible for the widespread power outage that affected the northeast, northwest, and parts of the north-central regions earlier this week.
According to a statement released by the TCN, the fault was discovered in the Igumale area of Benue State. The culprit was a snapped 330kV transmission line located in a swampy forest.
The company’s linesmen worked tirelessly to pinpoint the exact location of the fault, which spanned approximately one span of the Ugwuaji-Apir 330kV double circuit transmission line.
With the fault identified, TCN is now preparing to commence repair work. However, the challenging terrain of the swampy forest necessitates the mobilization of heavy equipment, including a bulldozer and a Hiab vehicle. These resources will be transported from the TCN’s Enugu Regional office to the incident site.
The company has expressed its commitment to restoring power to the affected areas as quickly as possible and has thanked the government and consumers for their understanding and patience during this disruption.
