Yobe govt unveils emergency ambulance service
Yobe Government says it has initiated an Emergency Medical Ambulance Service, to enhance referral towards achieving quality healthcare service delivery in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Dr Mohammed Goje, Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, on Sunday in Damaturu.
Mohammed said the scheme was in furtherance of the National Policy on Emergency Medical Service (EMAS) aimed at providing prompt and coordinated emergency medical response services to the people of the state.
He said the scheme would also minimise delays in accessing emergency healthcare services to reduce morbidity and mortality.
According to him, the scheme will cover emergency needs of the population in areas of trauma management, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, assault, drugs, poisoning among others.
Mohammed said the state government had provided nine ambulances and trained 87 ambulance crews as well as office accomodation to facilitate its smooth take off.
While commending Gov. Mai Mala Buni for health sector reform programme, Mohammed said the gesture would transform healthcare service delivery in the state.
