
Gov Buni Tells New LG Chairmen to Prioritize Transparency
Yobe State Gov Mai Mala Buni, has charged newly elected local government chairmen to prioritise transparency and accountability in managing local government finances, assets, and equipment.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday in Damaturu, Buni congratulated the chairmen on their electoral victory and commended the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting a credible and peaceful election.
The Governor urged the chairmen to key into his administration’s development agenda, focusing on youth empowerment, improved internally generated revenue, and provision of basic facilities and services.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining contract registers, handing over notes, and partnering with federal and state governments on programmes.
Governor Buni also commended the security operatives for maintaining law and order during the election.
He appealed to the people of the state to continue supporting the government and security agencies in maintaining peace and security.
