Eid-El-Kabir: FRSC vows to combat unsafe road practices in Yobe

The Yobe Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced its preparedness for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebrations, with a focus on combating unsafe road practices.

Sector Commander, Mr Dawi Dantaro made the announcement while addressing newsmen on Friday in Damaturu.

He highlighted some challenges to includ the use of trailers and trucks to convey humans, night trips, fatigue, speed violations, driving under drug influence, and overloading.

He also outlined some of the strategies adopted to ensure safe travel on the state’s high ways

“To tackle these menaces, the Corps has introduced key safety initiatives, including collaboration with the Nigeria Bar Association, aggressive sensitisation campaigns, and effective patrol operations,” he said .

Dantaro also said a special patrol, scheduled to commence on June 14, aimed to reduce traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries.

He added that the Corps had also established a Situation Room at the National Headquarters to monitor activities across the country and respond promptly to crashes and rescue operations.

Dantaro commended the media’s supportive role and urged continued collaboration in disseminating road safety messages to the public.

He said the FRSC remained committed to ensuring safe travel for all road users during Eid-el-Kabir and beyond.
