FHI 360 concludes 3-year health project in Yobe

FHI 360, an NGO has successfully rounded off its three-year Alive and Thrive project in Yobe, aimed at improving maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.

Mr Duke Ogbokor, Senior Technical Advisor, Monitoring and Evaluation of FHI 360, disclosed this to newsmen at the project’s closeout ceremony on Tuesday in Damaturu.

“FHI 360 has been working in Yobe for three years, providing support on nutrition concerning maternal, infant, and young child nutrition,” he said.

Ogbokor said Yobe government had approved and agreed to implement a sustainability plan developed in collaboration with FHI 360 Alive and Thrive.

He added that plan, written by stakeholders, ensures the continuation of the project’s successes in the state.

Ogbokor urged the state government and Ministry of Health to allocate adequate funding to tackle malnutrition and maternal fatalities.

“The state government has promised to lead the sustainability plan, accelerating the successes recorded by FHI 360,” he added.

Dr Muhammad Gana, the State Commissioner of Health, assured that the project would be sustained in the state.

Gana, represented by Dr Hauwa Goni, Director Public Health of the Ministry appreciated FHI 360 among other partners for their support to the state.
