The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe State Council, has congratulated Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede on his appointment as the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Chairman, Comrade Rajab Ismail Mohammed, the union commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a “warlord” to the position.
Mohammed highlighted General Oluyede’s significant contributions to counter-insurgency operations in the North East, particularly his leadership roles in dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring peace to various communities in Yobe State and beyond.
The NUJ Chairman also praised the General’s exemplary civil-military relations with local communities, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders, which have earned him widespread admiration and respect.
The union expressed confidence that General Oluyede will continue to lead the Nigerian Army with distinction and further enhance the nation’s security.
Independent News Reporters reports that President Bola Tinubu appointed Major General Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff pending the return of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is said to be indisposed and is receiving treatment abroad.
