By Ahmed Abba
Accelerating the achievement of Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) for the effective rollout of the Hope Project in Yobe State, paving the way for impactful and sustainable development.
The Yobe State Ambulance Services Management Agency (YEMABUS) has successfully concluded a two-day workshop (14–15 December 2024) to develop and validate RESMAT, a digitized EMS dispatch tool.
This innovative system can tracks emergency transport for obstetric and neonatal cases, aligning with DLI 7. Upon validation, it will unlock significant funding to support the state’s developmental goals.
This achievement marks yet another milestone in Yobe State’s unwavering commitment to reducing maternal mortality ratio (MMR) to the barest minimum.
The support exemplifies the catalytic and inclusive technical assistance provided by the Lafiya UK programme, which has been instrumental in aligning with government initiatives under the SWAp framework.
The programme’s flexible support has ensured optimal integration with state priorities, driving sustainable health outcomes.
A key highlight of this achievement is the locally led development by the agency’s ICT department. The swift efforts of the Business Manager and Director of ICT ensured the successful attainment of DLI 7 under the Hope Project, earning Yobe State national recognition as a leader in ambulance services.
Key stakeholders at the workshop included the Director of Family Health (State SWAp Coordinator), the SMoH DPRS (represented by the HMIS Officer), and the Executive Secretary of YSPHCMB (represented by the Deputy DPRS).
The SWAp Coordinator praised the agency’s innovative, cost-effective approach, which utilized local resources to develop the dashboard at a fraction of the $2,000 USD it could have cost.
Dr. Babagana described the initiative as a testament to the agency’s ingenuity and resourcefulness.
This groundbreaking effort stresses Yobe State’s dedication to leveraging innovative solutions for impactful healthcare delivery, setting a benchmark for excellence across the nation.
