Electorates in Bauchi State have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve two major development projects in exchange for their full support in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on behalf of the people, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, made the appeal during the commissioning of the 2.5-kilometer Zaranda township road in Toro Local Government Area.
Dogara emphasised that if the President grants their request, there will be no need for him to campaign in Bauchi ahead of the next election.
“If Mr President approves these projects and comes here to commission them, we do not want him to come to Bauchi for campaigns in 2027,” Dogara stated.
He then asked those in support of the demand to raise their hands, showcasing the overwhelming agreement among the people.
“The two requested projects include drilling of the Kolmani Oil River in Bauchi and Gombe States for petroleum exploration.
“The construction of the multipurpose Bagel Zungur Dam, estimated at ₦600 billion, which would provide potable water, electricity, and boost economic viability,” he said.
Also speaking ,Sen. Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the construction of a 2.5 km rural road in Zaranda community as part of his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises.
“The ₦850 million project, approved under the 2024 budget, aims to provide sustainable rural access roads, enhance agricultural activities, and create economic opportunities for the local populace.
“This commissioning is proof of the promise I made to you,” Senator Buba declared. “By the grace of Almighty Allah, I will fulfill all other promises,” he said.
APC State Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Tilde, commended Senator Buba’s efforts and urged other elected officials to emulate his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy.
