Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has called for the utilisation of the wealth of experience of retired Permanent Secretaries to foster sustainable development and good governance in the state.
Buni made the call on Thursday during a strategic meeting with the retired senior civil servants held in Damaturu.
The governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali.
The meeting brought together all retired Permanent Secretaries in the state under the auspices of the Yobe State Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, led by its Chairman, Engr. Mai Sanda Lawan.
Buni described the engagement as timely and necessary, noting that the retired administrators had contributed immensely to the growth and institutional framework of the state.
“These are individuals who had served in various ministries, departments, and agencies, and played very important roles in laying the foundation for what Yobe State is today,” Buni said.
“We need to tap into their wealth of experience to make Yobe greater and move forward.
“We had extensive discussions, very interesting interactions, and an open and productive dialogue,” he added.
According to him, the outcome of the meeting would be submitted to the government for consideration and possible implementation.
“Insha Allah, their suggestions and recommendations will be forwarded for implementation,” he said.
In his remarks, Engr. Mai Sanda Lawan, Chairman of the association, lauded the initiative, assuring the government of the members’ unwavering support and readiness to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
“As technocrats in government, we made significant contributions that enabled the state to achieve its current standing,” he said. “We will continue to contribute to help the state progress further.”
