Gov Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has flagged off a ₦7.8 billion upgrade and remodeling project of the State House of Assembly complex, marking a major step toward enhancing legislative infrastructure.
The comprehensive project encompasses the construction of a new Assembly Service Commission building, renovation of the main legislative chamber, refurbishment of the aging administrative block, and the facelift of various committee buildings.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Assembly premises in Bauchi, Mohammed said the initiative is designed to provide a more enabling and functional environment for lawmakers.
He noted that the intervention would improve legislative efficiency and further deepen democratic governance in the state.
Mohammed commended the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms, stating that their synergy has been instrumental in the delivery of people-focused projects across the state.
The governor also disclosed that temporary office arrangements have been made to ensure that legislative activities continue without disruption during the remodeling process.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, described the project as a long-awaited development, pointing out that the complex had not seen any significant renovation since its construction nearly 20 years ago.
In separate remarks, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, and the Chairman of the State Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Bappa Haruna Disina, praised the governor for extending his administration’s development vision to the legislature.
