
Zulum Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints New Commissioners, Education Board Chair

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has relieved two commissioners of their appointments as part of efforts to revitalise governance and enhance service delivery in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Dauda Iliya.
According to the statement, the commissioners affected are those in charge of the Ministry of Environment and that of Intergovernmental and Special Duties.
Zulum, who expressed appreciation to the relieved officials for their services, wished them success in their future endeavours.
He announced the appointment of Engr. Mohammed Habib and Mr Ibrahim Hala Hassan as replacements for the affected commissioners.
In a related development, the governor approved the appointment of Prof. Yusuf Gana Balami as Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Balami, a Professor of Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul Local Government Area in the southern part of the state.
He began his career with the Borno State Ministry of Education from 1984 to 1988, before proceeding to the University of Maiduguri, where he rose from a graduate assistant to the rank of professor in 2014.
The statement described Balami as a seasoned academic and administrator, who is a member of several professional bodies and has authored numerous publications.
Zulum congratulated the new appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective roles, especially in advancing the quality of governance and education in the state.
The appointments have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for legislative confirmation.
