The Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Professor Fatimah Tahir, has described the institution as a “cosmopolitan university” that reflects Nigeria’s diversity and promotes national unity.

She made the remarks at the maiden edition of the university’s Cultural Festival and Exhibition (SAZUCEF 2025), held at the Gadau main campus in Bauchi State.

The event, organized by the Centre for Languages and Culture Studies, featured cultural displays, traditional music, dances, food, and fashion from over 17 ethnic groups represented at SAZU.

“SAZU is a cosmopolitan university. We accommodate people from every part of Nigeria,” Professor Tahir said, expressing delight at the festival’s success.

She added that the celebration fosters cross-cultural understanding and preserves heritage for future generations.

Dressed in traditional attire, the Vice Chancellor joined students on the dance floor and tasted delicacies from various ethnic groups.

She called for the festival to be institutionalized as an annual event, bringing all groups together under one platform.

The Emir of Katagum, represented by Engineer Magaji Dahuwa Abdulkadir, praised the university for promoting peaceful coexistence.

Director of the Centre, Dr. Ahmad Tanimu Jibril, emphasized that the festival aims to deepen community ties and celebrate Nigeria’s cultural richness.

Performances by Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Fulani, Tiv, and other groups added color to the event, underscoring SAZU’s commitment to unity through diversity.
