Dangote college of nursing emerge winner of 2025 Bauchi unity cup

The Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Science, Bauchi, has emerged champion of the 2025 Usman Ya’u Unity Cup after defeating the College of Nursing and Midwifery of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) with a narrow 1-0 victory in the final match.

The week-long football competition, which brought together eight tertiary institutions across Bauchi State, featured teams from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State College of Agriculture,

Others are Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Adamu Jumba College of Education Kangere, and Sa’adu Zungur University, among others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony held at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi on Monday, the organizer and sports entrepreneur, Mr. Usman Ya’u expressed satisfaction with the turnout

Ya’u described the tournament as a huge success in fostering unity and sportsmanship among students.

He announced that the competition would become an annual event and pledged to sponsor the tuition fees of three students from Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for their outstanding entertainment performances during the tournament.

“The goal of this competition has been achieved by bringing students together in the spirit of unity and fair play. We will continue to make this an annual event,” Ya’u said.

The winning team received a trophy, medals for each player and their coach, and a cash prize of N250,000, while the runners-up were awarded medals and N150,000.

Anas Adam Umar, the competition’s chairman, emphasised the role of sports in building relationships and diverting youths from social vices.

Dr. Aminu Shehu, coach of the winning team, applauded the initiative and encouraged its continuity.

One of the scholarship beneficiaries, Muhammad Aliyu from the Mass Communication Department of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, thanked Ya’u for his generosity.
