By Ahmed Ahmed
Business leaders in Bauchi State have hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as a lifeline for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and a driver of business growth.
Malam Mustapha Shehu, Chairman of Muda Lawal Market Traders Association, made the commendation during a sensitisation campaign on the administration’s mid-term achievements on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He praised the Presidential grants and loans scheme, tax reforms, and salary increases, noting that they have spurred market expansion and boosted customer patronage.
“When salaries are paid, whether big or small, they circulate back into the market,” he said, while urging effective implementation of policies to sustain the gains,” he said
Mr Abdulkarim Abdulsalam of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Bauchi said the new tax laws exempt essential goods and services from Value Added Tax (VAT) and relieve small businesses earning below ₦50 million from company income tax, enabling them to reinvest in growth and job creation.
In the security sector, ACI Mohammed Ardo of the Nigeria Immigration Service cited the deployment of electronic border surveillance systems, which have enhanced border monitoring, curbed irregular migration, and encouraged cross-border trade.
Earlier, Mr Ibrahim Ladan, Head of the Federal Information Centre, highlighted other government initiatives, including social investment programmes and infrastructure projects.
The event drew market leaders, government officials, and security agencies, who discussed the administration’s progress since assuming office.
