The Yobe Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has passed a vote of confidence on Gov Mai Mala Buni, lauding the state health insurance scheme which enrols over 300,000 people.

Alhaji Bukar Adamu, state ALGON Chairman, announced the endorsement in an event to showcase Buni’s achievements.

He noted that Buni’s achievements cut across sectors, including health, education Agriculture and infrastructure.

Adamu, who doubled as Damaturu Local Government Chairman, said the association organised the event to appreciate the governor for a job well done and give honour to whom honour was due.

“ It is our moral duty to showcase Buni’s achievement.

“ Buni is a silent achiever who converted Yobe to construction site with ongoing construction of flyover, modern motor park in Damaturu, among others,” he said.

In his remarks, Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, thanked ALGON for the honour which, he said, would spur him to do more.

He noted that his administration’s interventions began with his declaration of a state of emergency in education when he was first elected in 2019.

“ We have proved to the world that our State has laid a solid foundation for the development of qualitative education, as can be seen from the recent impressive performance of our three young girls at an internationally recognized competition.

“ They beat many students, including native speakers, and emerged victorious in a global competition in the English Language,” the governor said.

Buni listed his achievements to include construction of seven mega schools, six model schools, recruitment of over 4,000 teaching and non-teaching staff as well as training and retraining of 26,000 teachers.

Others were construction and renovation of 178 primary healthcare centres, empowering over 10 farmers with farm machinery, establishment of livestock development centres in three zones, construction of Muhammadu Buhari Cargo Airport, among others.

The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for their efforts toward tackling insurgency in the state and the country at large.

He also lauded residents of the state for their resilience, trust, constant prayers and support to the state government.

“ We will therefore not rest on our oars in our efforts to make the state a source of pride for all our citizens,” Buni said.

Our correspondent reports that local government Chairman from Plateau, Taraba, Jigawa, Adamawa, among others, graced the occasion and commended Gov Buni for his infrastructure and human capital developments
