Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Wednesday swore in Alhaji Dauda Yahaya, former Head of Service, as Permanent Member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), alongside other key appointees.

Buni described Yahaya as a seasoned technocrat whose wealth of experience would strengthen government’s commitment to quality foundational education in the state.

He said Yahaya’s tenure as Head of Service prepared him for the new assignment, noting that the government expected him to contribute meaningfully to consolidating the state’s achievements in the education sector.

The governor recalled that Yobe had earned commendation from the Federal Ministry of Education for consistency in the payment of counterpart funds to access Universal Basic Education Commission matching grants.

According to him, Yahaya’s appointment will further advance school feeding programmes, procurement of instructional materials and payment of examination fees, in line with the administration’s education policy.

Buni also administered the oath of office on Abba Alhaji Mamadi as the new Grand Khadi of the state.

Mamadi, a distinguished jurist with 29 years of experience in the judicial service, was described as an asset to the state judiciary.

The governor equally inaugurated five Special Advisers: Mohammed Bazam Maidoki, Mohammed Ibrahim Jalo, Saratu Sabo, Saleh Budde Sherrif, and Kulloma Umara Mohammed.

He said their loyalty, grassroots connections, and political experience would strengthen governance and deepen engagement with the electorate.

The governor prayed for Allah’s guidance to enable them discharge their duties diligently, and urged citizens to continue praying for peace and prosperity in the state and the country.
