Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has inspected the Damaturu flyover and underpass as well as the Damaturu–Gambir road projects, expressing satisfaction with the progress of work.

Buni, who was accompanied by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, visited the project sites alongside commissioners, senior government officials, and representatives of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

Speaking during the visit, the governor commended the contractors for the quality and speed of work, adding that the project was being executed in line with contractual agreements.

“I am happy with the quality and speed of work on the project. The contractors have so far lived up to expectation with strict adherence to the contractual agreements.

“When completed, this would greatly reduce congestion at the city centre and address the menace of flood into houses along Gashua road,” Buni said.

The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakil Dudaye, who conducted the governor round the site, said ministry engineers were monitoring every stage of the project to ensure compliance and value for money.

The contractors assured the governor that the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame.

Similarly, Buni inspected the Damaturu–Gambir road project for a personal assessment of quality and progress of work.

The governor said the road would ease the transportation of farm produce from agricultural communities to Damaturu, which serves as a major market in the state.

“We have a lot of farming communities who are challenged with moving their produce to Damaturu. This road will provide a lasting solution to the difficulty they face.

“I am glad the contractor has completed the earthwork and commenced the overlay,” he said.

Engr. Modu Bukar of Elegance Construction, handling the project, assured the governor that it would be completed within nine weeks.
