In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI), in partnership with Alwadata Liveline Initiative, organized a sensitization program in Bauchi State to inspire and empower adolescent girls to take leadership roles and advocate for change in their communities.
The event, held under the global theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis,” brought together 132 adolescent girls from the Special Education Centre of General Hassan Katsina College and Kusu Community in Yelwa, Bauchi.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Dinah Daniel Istifanus, Executive Director of FAWOYDI, emphasized the importance of resilience, focus, and self-belief in achieving success.
She encouraged the girls to remain steadfast in building meaningful careers and contributing positively to society.
Also addressing the participants, Ms. Princess Markus, a representative of a physical challenge organization, urged girls with disabilities to embrace their challenges as opportunities for growth and excellence, highlighting that true strength lies in perseverance and confidence.
Other facilitators, including Mrs. Mother P, encouraged the girls to be bold, courageous, and determined in pursuing their dreams, reminding them that they can serve as role models within their families and communities.
The sensitization program sought to amplify the voices of girls, break barriers, and promote equality by creating platforms that help them realize their full potential.
The event underscored FAWOYDI and Alwadata Liveline Initiative’s continued commitment to girl-child empowerment, leadership development, and inclusion affirming their dedication to building a brighter, more equitable future for Nigerian girls.
