Adamawa assembly committed towards protecting children’s rights – Majority leader

The Adamawa House of Assembly says it remains committed towards formulating and supporting policies which protect children’s rights, eradicate Gender Based
Violence (GBV) and promote equal opportunities for all.
The.Majority Leader of the Assembly, Kate Mamuno stated this on Friday at the commemoration of the 2025 International Day for the Girl Child.
with the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead”.
Mamuno who is also the House Committe Chairman on Women Affairs and Social Development, said the celebration challenges the public to look beyond sympathy on the girl child.
“We should see her as an agent of transformation capable of influencing positive changes even in times of crisis.
“The house committee on women affairs and social development will continue collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure that girls’ ‘voices are heard, their rights respected and potentials realised.
“Let this celebration renew our commitment towards building a society where girls can live without violence, access quality education, health care and grow confidently to achieve their dreams,” she said.
The Permanent Secretary, state ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Adamu appreciated the continued support of partners to the ministry’s programmes which improves the lives of women and children.
Adamu encouraged girls to understand that they should be strong and their voices matter
“Believe in yourself, be aware that you are the leaders of today and tomorrow”, she said.
Highlights of the ceremony is the presention of awards to partners such as Save the Children International, Nuru International among others.
The awards were in recognition of their partnership and contributions towards women and children’s welfare in the state.
