Fika Health Officer Hails Successful ITN Card Distribution, Seeks More Support
By Ahmed I Abba
The Health Promotion Officer for Fika Local Government Area, Malam Hassan Tela Haruna, has described the just-concluded Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) card distribution exercise in the area as highly successful.
Haruna stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Fika, commending the field teams for their dedication and professionalism during the exercise.
He said the process was smooth and hitch-free, attributing the success to the commitment of the distribution teams, community members, and traditional rulers who provided strong support.
“The distribution went on successfully without any major challenge. I sincerely appreciate the teamwork, cooperation, and community participation that made it possible,” he said.
The health officer, however, noted that there was a shortage of ITN cards, which left some households unserved after the exercise had been concluded.
He appealed to relevant stakeholders to address the shortfall to ensure that all eligible households benefit from subsequent rounds of the intervention.
Meanwhile, Engr Dahiru Hassan JoJi, the Lamban Kukar-Gadu, a traditional leader in one of the communities in the local government area, said the card distribution exercise did not reach his jurisdiction.
He told our Correspondent that he was not aware of the activity and that no distribution teams visited his area during the exercise.
Haruna reaffirmed the local government’s readiness to sustain collaboration with partners to strengthen malaria prevention and promote public health in the area.
