Police Probe Mysterious Removal of Corpse in Yobe Cemetery
A grave was found desecrated and a corpse removed at Makwalla cemetery in Jakusko on Nov. 13, prompting a police investigation.
Wakili Gambo of Jakusko reported the incident to the Police Station at about 1100hrs, leading officers of the Jakusko Division and community leaders to the scene, where they confirmed the violation.
The Command has intensified checks on other graves within the cemetery as part of ongoing investigations into the criminal act.
Commissioner of Police, Yobe Command, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the incident, describing it as cannibalistic, diabolical and a serious assault on human dignity and the sanctity of the dead. He warned that perpetrators would face the full weight of the law.
The Command urged communities to strengthen protection measures around cemeteries, cooperate with law enforcement, and promptly report suspicious movements in burial areas.
