The Yobe State Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project has intensified efforts to strengthen collaboration among ministries, departments and agencies to advance durable solutions to displacement.

The project made this known during a strategic engagement with members of the State Durable Solutions Technical Working Group at its headquarters in Damaturu.

The engagement, according to a statement by the project’s Communication and Information Officer, Ali Musa Yawale, was aimed at aligning institutional roles and coordination mechanisms for effective implementation.

Members of the Technical Working Group were led by the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Mohammed Goje, who also serves as Coordinator of the State Durable Solutions Secretariat.

Chairing the meeting, the SOLID Project Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda, said the initiative was designed to operate through a structured partnership framework involving line MDAs, local government councils, community structures, the Durable Solutions Technical Working Group and development partners.

Dauda said the approach was intended to promote synergy, reduce fragmentation and ensure cohesive delivery of interventions across the state.

He explained that the project was structured to move beyond emergency response by focusing on long-term recovery, resilience and reintegration through institutionalised, development-oriented support.

The coordinator said the project would ensure strong ownership by government MDAs, particularly the Durable Solutions Technical Working Group, which he described as central to displacement policy coordination and implementation in Yobe State.

He added that working through existing government institutions would enhance sustainability, accountability and local ownership of outcomes.
In his remarks, Goje emphasised the importance of strengthened inter-agency coordination in delivering lasting solutions to displacement challenges in the state.

He said improved collaboration would help reduce duplication of efforts, enhance synergy and ensure interventions deliver measurable improvements in the lives of internally displaced persons and host communities.

The meeting agreed to undertake a state-led desk review of existing assessments and technical reports from relevant MDAs and development partners.

The review is expected to produce a State Livelihood Baseline Report to guide prioritisation, targeting and sequencing of livelihood interventions under the SOLID Project and other durable solutions initiatives.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both the SOLID Project and the Durable Solutions Technical Working Group to sustained collaboration in advancing durable solutions across Yobe State.
