The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) on Thursday hosted a colourful Christmas funfair for children of Nigerian Air Force officers and members of the host community in Bauchi, as part of activities to mark the festive season and the end of the year.

The event, held at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Bauchi, brought together dozens of children who were treated to games, refreshments, music and gift items in an atmosphere of joy and celebration.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairperson of NAFOWA, Mrs. Grace Idris, who was the Guest of Honour and wife of the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Special Operations, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, said the initiative was aimed at fostering unity and a sense of belonging among children of officers and those from the host community.

Mrs. Idris explained that celebrating with the children was in line with NAFOWA’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness, compassion and strong civil-military relations, especially during festive periods that symbolise love and sharing.

Also speaking, the NAFOWA Coordinator, NAF Base 251 Services Group, Bauchi, Mrs. Basirat Mamman, highlighted the significance of organising the funfair during Christmas and the end-of-year period. She noted that the programme was designed to put smiles on the faces of children and create lasting positive memories.

Mrs. Mamman expressed appreciation to the AOC and the NAFOWA Chairperson for their support, which she said made the event a success.

Some of the children who attended the funfair expressed delight over the celebration. Master Aliyu Sadiq, from the host community, said he was happy to be part of the programme, while Sunday Emmanuel appreciated the organisers, saying she thoroughly enjoyed the party and hoped it would be sustained in future.
