The Concerned Bauchi Citizens (CBC) have thrown their weight behind Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulqadir Mohammed, condemning what they described as sustained political attacks and selective justice against the governor and the state.

Speaking at a national press conference on Monday, the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Adamu Dauda Yashi, said the allegations leveled against Governor Bala Mohammed were unfair, politically motivated, and aimed at tarnishing both his personal integrity and the reputation of Bauchi State.

Yashi stated that the group stood in “clear and unequivocal solidarity” with the governor, stressing that opposition politics should never be used as an excuse for intimidation, harassment, or the misuse of national institutions against elected leaders.

He expressed concern that despite the constitutional immunity enjoyed by sitting governors, Governor Bala Mohammed, members of his family, and officials of the Bauchi State Government had come under sustained scrutiny.

He described Bauchi State as one of the safest states in Nigeria, noting that under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, the state had recorded minimal cases of terrorism and serious insecurity compared to many parts of the country.

According to him, this reality made the recent attempts to portray Bauchi as unsafe questionable and dangerous to public confidence and stability.

The CBC coordinator also raised concerns about what he termed selective justice, pointing out that some federal officials accused of security-related issues had not faced visible investigations, allegedly due to their political affiliation with the ruling party.

He warned that politicising security and anti-corruption efforts could weaken public trust in national institutions.

Yashi further referenced unresolved public questions surrounding past statements by the EFCC leadership, arguing that inconsistency in law enforcement fuels suspicion and undermines institutional credibility.

The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to uphold democratic values and fairness, while also urging the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to intervene in the interest of peace and national stability.

The Concerned Bauchi Citizens reaffirmed their support for Gov Bala Mohammed, pledging to stand for justice, equity, democracy, and unity in Nigeria.
