Gov. Fintiri tasks corps members on skills acquisition for self-reliance, wealth creation

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has encouraged Corps Members to take full advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme as a viable pathway to self-reliance, innovation, and wealth creation.

Fintiri made the call at the swearing-in ceremony of 2026 batch ‘A’ stream one corps member deployed to Adamawa for the service year in Damare, Girei Local Government Area on

He commended the NYSC Management for continually strengthening the initiative through strategic partnerships with reputable institutions that provide corps members with training, mentorship, and access to funding.

Fintiri who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Kaletafwa Farauta said, his administration remained resolute in commitment to the welfare and security of Corps Members deployed to the state.

He said, the commitment reflected in the deliberate measures they have consistently taken to make the orientation and service year comfortable.

“Including the continuous enhancement of camp feeding through supplementary food items, as well as other welfare-focused interventions that enable you to serve with confidence and peace of mind.

“We are also fully mindful of the prevailing economic realities and the pressures they place on corps members. In response, my administration has approved a monthly allowance of ₦30,000 for corps members serving in Adamawa State.

“This allowance is paid regularly and promptly, ensuring that you are well settled and able to devote your full attention to the demands of your service year”, he said.

He called on the corps members to understand that the Orientation Course marks the formal beginning of their service year and plays a vital role in shaping their discipline, skills, and mindset for the journey ahead.

Fintiri also advised the corps members to take advantage of skills acquisition training in the camp for more opportunities during and after the service year as white colar jobs are not readily available.

He further said that the construction of a permanent NYSC Orientation Camp at Malkohi, in Yola South Local Government Area is in progress.

“Upon completion, this facility will provide a more befitting, secure, and conducive environment for the orientation and training of corps members deployed to Adamawa Stat”, he said.

In her address, Mrs Osoroh Caroline, NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa said, the NYSC scheme is proud of Gov. Fintiri for his commitment and support to the NYSC in the state.

She called on the corps members to actively participate in all camp activities and abide by the for successful service year and beyond.

“Let me be clear: appropriate sanctions will be applied against any Corps Member who violates the NYSC Bye-Laws.

“The oath of allegiance you have just taken is sacred. I implore you to reflect deeply on its spirit and meaning, and let it guide your choices throughout the service year and beyond”, she said.
