The Yobe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday inaugurated transitional Local Government Area (LGA) Executive Committees across the state’s 17 LGAs to strengthen its grassroots structure.
The party also inaugurated its Membership Mobilisation, Validation and Registration (MMVR) Committees as part of efforts to expand its membership base statewide.
Speaking at the ceremony in Damaturu, the state Chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Umar Kalli, described the exercise as a critical step in consolidating the party’s presence at the grassroots.
Kalli said the inauguration marked a fresh phase in the party’s growth, adding that the ADC was now well-positioned to participate effectively in future political contests.
He appealed to party members who were not selected into the interim committees to remain patient, assuring them that the party’s structure was inclusive and provided opportunities for all.
The chairman urged the newly inaugurated executives to return to their respective LGAs and work collectively to promote unity and advance the party’s objectives.
In his remarks, a chieftain of the party in Yobe and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, said the exercise completed the inauguration process across the state.
Waziri explained that similar inaugurations had earlier been conducted for Zones B and C, covering the seven LGAs in the Yobe East Senatorial District.
He announced that the party would immediately commission its zonal office in Damaturu, as well as campaign offices in Tarmuwa and Bursari Local Government Areas.
Waziri said the ADC had grown rapidly within a short period, noting that the party had emerged as a strong opposition platform nationwide.
He called on members to remain united and prepared ahead of the forthcoming membership registration exercise, stressing that collective effort was essential for the party’s success.
