FG assures completion of ongoing road projects in Adamawa Road

The Federal Ministry of Works has assured completion of ongoing road projects in Adamawa, to enhance transportation services and boost economic activities.

Mr Mohammed Abdullahi, Director, Information and Public Relations in the ministry, said this during a ministerial media tour of the road projects, on Thursday in Yola.

Abdullahi, who also led the media team, inaugurated a completed road project at Doctors Quarters in Yola-South Local Government Area of the state.

He assured timely completion of the ongoing road projects under the Renew Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The team also inspected the Numan – Cham axis of Yola – Gombe Road and Phase 1 Jabbi Lamba Road project.

Abdullahi said the Federal Government was committed to the completion of road projects inherited from the previous administrations, and also embarked on the emergency road interventions across the country.

Mr Demas Tuwai, Controller of Work in the state, said that the 22.3 kilometres Jabbi-Lamba Road project was designed to link Girei and Fufore to Cameroon border.

He said major villages along the road are Farang and Madugu, who are majorly farmers and traders.

“The existing carriage way is paved with asphaltic concrete of width 7.3m, bounded by eroded surface dressed shoulders, the road is in various conditions ranging from fair to completely deteriorated sections,” he said.

Tuwai said the road project awarded at the ost of N27.5 billion in October 2024, reached over 40 per cent, and expected to be completed this year.

“The road has a total of 85 kilometers and the first phase of the project is 22.3 kilometers. The second phase will be awarded immediately after the completion of the onging project, ” he said.

Prof. Bashir Aliyu, Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), said the project was up to standard, adding that “we are happy to say that the quality of the project is accepted.”

Some members of the benefiting communities, lauded President Bola Tinubu for the gesture, and called for the speedy completion of the projects before the rainy season.

Arabo Sule, who spoke on behalf of Kadarbu community in Fufore LGA, said they had been yearning for the road project since 1985.

He said the project when completed would ease transportation difficulties, boost their social and economic wellbeing.
