NEDC inaugurates Multi-billion Projects in Adamawa

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has inaugurated Multi-billion Projects in its move to fast tract the reconstruction of the geopolitical zone and handed over to Adamawa government for the benefit of citizens.

Speaking at the inauguration of the projects the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Ahmadu, commended NEDC for the laudable effort in execution of the projects that have long impacts on the life of the people.

He reiterated the commitments of the federal government in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu of more infrastructural development down to grassroots.

In his remarks, Mohammed Alkali, NEDC’s Managing Director commended Tinubu for his consistent support and encouragement for the commission.

He assured of continuing to execute life saving projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people in line with their statutory mandate of rebuilding the region.

“It is our responsibility to provide infrastructure that has a direct bearing on the people of the North-East and improve the economic activities of the region”, he said.

The managing director stated that the creation of the commission had addressed both the humanitarian crisis in the North-East region and infrastructural development.

“Schools, hospitals and other public infrastructure were destroyed in the North-East.

“The commission has rebuilt bridges and hospitals, provided water in different communities and created more jobs for youths,” he said.

Our Correspondent reports that the projects were executed across the three senatorial zones which includes; 2.5km Garikida township roads and 1.1 km road linking staff quarter and academic area in Federal College of Education Yola.

Modern Mega school compressing four blocks of 48 classroom, a two bedroom staff quarter, a block of office, two boreholes, a giant generator and a generator house with the classrooms and offices fully equipped in Guyuk.

Others are the renovated water scheme upgrade that services School of Nursing and Midwifery and Wuro- Chike community in Yola-South Local Government Area.

Eight blocks of three classrooms, an administrative block, four laboratories, staff quarters and a borehole as well as the renovation of classrooms that were destroyed by Boko Haram in Government Day Secondary School in Garikida town.

The team also inspected the rehabilitation of Numan bridge linking Gombe, Batch, Yobe and the other states in the region and
inspected the twin building Accident and Emergency ward at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola.

The team also visited Hong local government area where a number of NEDC projects were inaugurated by the Honourable Minister, the projects are collage gate, 200m fencing, 2.5 km roads network in College of Education Hong.

Usman Ardo, Head of Service of Adamawa State, who received the project on behalf of the state government described the projects as projects that has direct impact on the people of Adamawa.

He assured for judicious use of the projects for the purpose made and for for the benefit of people in the state.
