Sen. Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commenced the distribution of 18,200 bags of rice to constituents and other beneficiaries across Bauchi State
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Sunday in Bauchi, Sen. Buba said the intervention was designed to support Muslim faithful observing the holy month of Ramadan and to reduce the burden on vulnerable families facing rising living costs.
He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and to carry out what he described as part of his responsibility to the people.
According to him, the distribution is as follows, Bauchi Local Government Area is allocated 2,000 bags; Toro will receive 1,500; Alkaleri 1,200; Tafawa Balewa 1,000; Kirfi 700; Dass 700; and Bogoro 300 bags.
“In a move that extends beyond my immediate constituency, we earmarked 3,500 bags for Bauchi North and 3,000 for Bauchi Central.
“The remaining bags are designated for APC leaders, selected organisations, and other stakeholders across the state,” he said.
He noted that the gesture was consistent with his tradition of providing relief to constituents, particularly during significant periods such as Ramadan when access to food becomes even more critical.
Buba charged members of the distribution committee to uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability to ensure that the rice reaches the intended beneficiaries without diversion.
The Chairman of the Distribution Committee, Abdulkadir Gyengyen, commended the senator for what he termed a timely and thoughtful intervention.
He assured that the committee would implement strict monitoring measures to guarantee equitable distribution.
Also speaking, APC stakeholder Alhaji Muhammad Sade lauded Senator Buba’s representation at the National Assembly, describing the initiative as a demonstration of responsive and people-oriented leadership.
