Sen. Shehu Buba Umar (APC–Bauchi South) has inaugurated the Imam Shu’aibu Yisin Council of Ulamah Islamic Centre in Bununu, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Buba said the centre was established to bring together Islamic scholars and followers from different groups to promote unity, understanding and cooperation within the Muslim community.

He explained that the facility would serve as a platform for dialogue among scholars to address community challenges while encouraging peace, mutual respect and social development.

The lawmaker said the centre also contains units dedicated to handling issues such as inheritance matters, reconciliation and other services in line with Islamic teachings.

According to him, the project was initiated following requests by Islamic scholars from different organisations seeking a central meeting point to strengthen unity and collaboration among Muslims.

Buba expressed satisfaction with the quality and timely completion of the project, praying that it would contribute to the growth and development of Islam in the area.

He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation through programmes and projects aimed at improving living conditions across the seven local government areas of Bauchi South.

The senator listed some of his interventions to include women and youth empowerment, job creation initiatives, healthcare support, agricultural assistance and other social welfare programmes.

Chairman of the building committee, Hon. Aminu Tukur, commended the senator for funding the project from conception to completion.

Tukur said the centre comprises 12 offices, a conference hall, a nine-room guest house, a store and a shopping complex with six shops.

He added that the project cost about N200 million and was fully financed by the senator.

During the event, Buba condoled with residents of Alkaleri Local Government Area over bandit attacks in communities including Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Yalo.

He assured that he would collaborate with the state government and security agencies to address insecurity and announced plans to support displaced persons currently taking refuge in Kashere.
