PWD focal person resigns in Yobe

The Focal Person on Persons with Disability in Yobe, Mr Abubakar Umar, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

Umar conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, dated March 27, 2026.

He stated that the decision followed careful consideration and was based on personal and professional reasons.

The outgoing official described his tenure as a privilege, noting his contributions to promoting inclusion, dignity and advocacy for persons with disabilities in the state.

Umar said the opportunity to work with government officials, stakeholders and community members was both humbling and fulfilling.

He clarified that his resignation was not due to dissatisfaction with the office, responsibilities or the leadership of the state government.

The former focal person expressed appreciation to the Yobe Government for the confidence, cooperation and support extended to him during his service.

He expressed confidence that disability inclusion in the state would continue to receive the needed attention from relevant authorities.

Umar reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of persons with disabilities in Yobe.
