A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has reiterated his resolve to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election, assuring supporters that his ambition remains firmly on track.
Umar, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting he convened, bringing together supporters, political associates, and well-wishers from across the state on Monday in Bauchi
Addressing the gathering, the senator explained that the meeting was aimed at updating his supporters on the progress of his consultations and reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the gubernatorial race.
He expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the party’s congresses and convention at the ward, local government, state, zonal, and national levels, commending the leadership of the APC for ensuring a smooth and transparent process.
Umar also appreciated party members for their loyalty, resilience, and continued support across the 20 local government areas and 212 wards of Bauchi State.
The aspirant stressed that there was “no going back” on his ambition, noting that he would intensify consultations across the state to consolidate support ahead of the party primaries.
He maintained that the APC in Bauchi remains united and strong, dismissing claims of divisions or internal cracks within the party.
Umar further urged party members who lost during the congresses to accept the outcome in good faith, reminding them that elections naturally produce winners and losers.
He called on members to remain law-abiding and cooperate with party leadership at all levels to ensure a peaceful and credible gubernatorial primary.
The senator expressed confidence that with unity and commitment, the APC would emerge victorious and unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
