Yobe senator distributes 9,000 bags of rice, millet to constituency

Former Senate President in the 9th National Assembly, Sen. Ahmed Lawan on Saturday in Gashua,Yobe, presented nine thousand bags of assorted food items to his constituents to ameliorate their hardship.

Lawan, representing Yobe North Senatorial District said the gesture was his personal donation to complement the Federal and Yobe state governments’ effort.

He said that the food items included six thousand bags of 25kg of rice and three thousand bags of 25kg of millet.

Lawan said the items would be distributed according to the magnitude of vulnerability across the six local government areas of his constituency.
In his remarks, the Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman expressed gratitude to the lawmaker on behalf of the beneficiaries.

While describing the gesture as timely, the Emir encouraged others especially the well-to-do to emulate the Federal lawmaker.

Meanwhile, the former senate president has handed the newly constructed Federal Science and Technical College Gashua to Yobe state government.

Lawan thanked the Federal Ministry of Education for establishing one of the 16 institutions in Yobe.

He said the institution was an important part of development to the state.

“Because it is going to provide limitless opportunities for our youths, who will be educated here by the Grace of God for many years to come,” he said.

Lawan commended the Emir of Bade for allocating the land for the construction of the school.
