NDLEA Yobe State Command Marks Int’l Day Against Drug Abuse, Illicit Trafficking
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Yobe State Command on Wednesday commemorated the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a press briefing.
Commander Mr. Abduazeez Ogungboye highlighted the command’s achievements and sought collaboration with the media and security agencies.
The commander announced that between June 26th 2023 and today, the command had made significant progress, including arrest and prosecution of 34 drug suspects, seizure of 643.05 kilograms of illicit substances, and forfeiture of vehicles and cash.
The command, he said had successful prosecuted and convicted of 34 suspects, carried out short intervention counseling sessions for 290 drug-dependent persons and established a treatment and rehabilitation center in the state.
Ogungboye also mentioned ongoing efforts to establish outposts in all 17 local government areas and appealed to local government chairmen for cooperation.
The commander emphasized the importance of collaboration with the media in disseminating information on the dangers of substance abuse and drug trafficking.
He expressed gratitude to the state government, sister security agencies, and the press for their support.
The NDLEA Yobe State Command remains committed to its anti-illicit narcotic efforts, and its doors are open to new partnerships and synergies.
