Veteran journalist donates school, health facility to Yobe community

A veteran journalist, public commentator, and Neptune Prime publisher, Dr Hassan Gimba Ahmed, on Saturday inaugurated a school and a health facility in Potiskum.

Gimba said the projects were named after his late mother and wife, respectively, as a way of giving back to the community.

He said ‘Hafsat Gimba Ahmed Memorial School’ was named after his late mother.

He added that the school had been renovated, equipped with modern facilities, and connected to a power source, with borehole and toilet facilities.

Gimba also said ‘Lami Fatima Babare’ cervical cancer screening centre, was named after his late wife, who lost her life as a result of cervical cancer.

Adding tha the centre would also provide primary healthcare services to the community.

Dr Abdullahi Mamuda, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the school, commended Gimba for his initiative and dedication to serving the community, urging others to emulate him.

A childhood friend of Gimba, Prof. MK Uthman, praised his generosity and helpfulness.

Uthman also prayed for the eternal rest of Gimba’s late mother and wife.
Alhaji Muhammad Idrisa, the emir of Fika thanked Gimba on behalf of the Emirate for his contribution to the community.

The emir, represented by Alhaji Bukar Abubakar, the Shettima of Fika also called on the well-meaning citizens of the state to emulate the gesture
