NANS National Coordinator Urges Students to Shun Insurgency, Drug Abuse
By Baba Dan’Iya
Comrade Bappah Hassan, National Coordinator of the Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone E North-East Region, has warned students against involvement in insurgency, drug abuse, and other vices.
Speaking at the North-East Security Summit 2024 in Damaturu, Hassan emphasized the importance of engaging students positively in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency and drug abuse.
The summit, themed “Engaging North-East Students Positively in War Against Boko Haram Insurgency and Drugs Abuse,” brought together student leaders from the six states of the region.
Hassan stressed that as indigenous students of the region, they have learned about the security challenges and invited resource persons to educate fellow students on avoiding political thuggery, drug abuse, and Boko Haram insurgency.
He also highlighted the need to maintain peace, order, and bring development to the region.
The coordinator added that the association is collaborating with the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to improve the quality of life for youths in the region.
According to Hassan, NANS also aimed to enlighten out-of-school youths to become productive members of society.
