Yobe Governor Presents N320.811bn 2025 Budget

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Thursday presented a N320.811 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

 

Presenting the budget titled “Budget of Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction,” Buni said the proposed budget was aimed at completing ongoing projects and embarking on new ones.

 

He said the budget allocated N144.036 billion to recurrent expenditure, representing 44.9 per cent, while N176.774 billion was allocated to capital expenditure, representing 55.1 per cent.

 

The governor highlighted key sectors to benefit from the budget, including:

 

Economic Sector: N156.931 billion allocated for agriculture, works, commerce, industry, tourism, water resources, transport, energy, budget and planning, finance, housing, and urban development.

 

Social Sector: N108.469 billion allocated for basic and secondary education, higher and technical education, health, local government, women affairs, environment, youth, sports, and social development.

 

Administration: N50.644 billion allocated for government house, House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Home Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Religious Affairs, State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, Local Government Service Commission, and other agencies.

 

Law, Peace, and Justice: N4.764 billion allocated for the Ministry of Justice, Judicial Service Commission, High Court of Justice, Sharia Court Division, Sharia Court of Appeal, Prerogative of Mercy, and Rent Tribunal.

 

Buni expressed optimism about the budget’s passage, emphasizing the harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

 

He urged the assembly to expedite the budget’s approval to enable the government to deliver on its promises to the people of Yobe State.
