NSCDC arrests five suspects for vandalism others in Bauchi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bauchi State Command, has arrested and paraded five suspects involved in various crimes, including oil pipeline vandalism, criminal misappropriation, rape, and theft.

Parading the suspects at the NSCDC Bauchi State Command Headquarters, the Commandant, Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, while journalists on the details of the arrests, stated that the suspects were apprehended at different locations across the state.

According to him, on March 5, 2025, Sha’aban Yahaya (22) and Mustapha Mohammed (21) from Magama Gumau, Toro LGA, were arrested for stealing two Bajaj motorcycles from Sunshine Lodge and Gidan Oga Ali House in Tilde Fulani. The suspects, apprehended by NSCDC operatives from the Toro Division, have confessed to the crime.

Similarly, on March 7, 2025, NSCDC operatives from Alkaleri Division arrested Iliyasu Yahaya (22) of Badanga Village, Bauchi LGA, for vandalizing an oil pipeline and illegally extracting kerosene.

“Recovered from him were, six (6) full 25-litre containers of kerosene, four (4) empty 25-litre containers, one hacksaw and a machete

“In another case, on February 26, 2025, Ayuba Isah (38) of Alkaleri LGA was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl, Fatima Ibrahim, in an uncompleted building at Unguwan GRA, Alkaleri. A medical examination confirmed penetration, despite the suspect’s denial,” Oyerinde said

He added that on March 4, 2025, Samaila Emmanuel (22) from Wunti, Bauchi, was arrested for siphoning diesel from a 150kVA Mikano generator meant for powering street lights.

Commandant Oyerinde reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and warned criminals to desist from such acts or face legal consequences.

He stated that, except for Ayuba Isah, all other suspects have confessed and will be prosecuted accordingly.

Oyerinde further urged Bauchi State residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and accurate information to help curb criminal activities in the state.
