
Over 300 Quranic students gather in Bauchi for annual competition

Not less than 300 Quranic students from six northern states have converged in Bauchi State for the second edition of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Qur’anic Recitation Competition.
The opening ceremony, held on Saturday in Bauchi, marked the commencement of the week-long event, scheduled to run from May 4 to May 10.
The States comprises of Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Niger, and Kaduna
Speaking at the event, Malam Abdullahi Ismail, Secretary of Education of the Foundation, noted that the competition is aimed at promoting the correct recitation of the Qur’an as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
He emphasised that the event also serves to boost the morale and commitment of students of the Qur’an.
“The Foundation initiated this annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition Musabaqa which also includes components of Fiqh, Tauhid, and Sira, for students across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
“It is designed to deepen Islamic education and elevate Quranic literacy,” Ismail said.
He said the annual event will continue in subsequent years, Insha Allah, to further strengthen the foundation of Islamic education across the region.
Sheikh Tijjani Dahiru, a prominent Islamic scholar, encouraged students to adopt the Qur’an as their lifelong guide, emphasizing the importance of continual recitation and memorization for moral and spiritual development.
In a related presentation, Dr. Mujitapha Abdulkadir called on the government and relevant stakeholders to support such initiatives by establishing permanent centers to host participants and enhance the overall experience of the competition.
