
Bauchi SWAN celebrates Wikki, Warinje FCs for league promotions

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Bauchi State Chapter has celebrated Wikki Tourists Football Club and Warinje Football Club in recognition of their promotion to top-tier leagues of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL ) respectively.
At a brief but significant ceremony held at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) weekend in Bauchi.
The SWAN Chairman Bala Bawaji presented the awards, hailing both clubs as “a pride to Bauchi State.” He praised their dedication and assured that SWAN would continue to support and promote their matches and activities.
National Ex-Officio of SWAN, Usman Abbas, described the feat as a revival of Bauchi’s status as the “Mecca of Sports”in Nigeria. Similarly, NUJ Bauchi Chairman, Umar Sa’idu, commended SWAN for recognizing the effort and resilience of the clubs.
Chairman of Wikki Tourists FC, Engineer Mohammed Auwal Gotal, expressed satisfaction that the club had achieved the goal set by Governor Bala Mohammed to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
He emphasized plans to further strengthen the team, while also acknowledging the governor’s continuous support.
President of Warinje FC, Abubakar Mai Auduga, described the recognition as a historic milestone for the privately owned club.
He noted that the team, founded to nurture grassroots talent, now boasts eight players currently active in the NPFL.
“This honour is not just for Warinje FC but for the entire Bauchi State,” he stated.
The event marked a significant moment in Bauchi’s sporting history, celebrating local clubs making national impact.
