NHRC trains committee for reconciliation with repented insurance in Adamawa

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has trained reconciliation committee members of Malkohi, Internationally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Host Community, Yola-South LG, Adamawa for peace and reconciliation with repented insurance.

Speaking at training, Mr Bello Ibrahim, Investigation Officer, NHRC said, the aim of the training is to support the participants to succeed in reintegration of repented Non-State armed groups in their communities.

Ibrahim who is the Programme Manager, Review, Reintegration and Reconciliation of Person’s formally associated with non-state armed groups in North-East urged the participants to apply knowledge acquired in practice for justice.

“To promote peace, disengagement of people who were still in the bush for reconciliation and facilitate the Reintegration of people associated with armed groups”, he said.

He advised the participants to understand that these people were their brothers and sisters they deserved to be forgiven and accommodated.

In her address, Grace Mamza, NHRC’s Adamawa Coordinator reconciliation and reintegration of repented ex-combatants for transition would promote peace and justice in the communities.

“The concept is all about allowing the people involved in armed conflict and the victims to come together to live in the same community in peace and harmony.

“We urged you to go back to your communities and sensitised them for peaceful co-existance”, she said.

She further urged them to respect human rights and to report whoever violated their rights for redressed.

Dr Bello Imam-Ali, the resource persons urged the participants to understand the objectives of the training and step down to members of their community for justice, reconciliation and understanding.

He said, these are the ways to bring development in the area and without peace there will be no hope or development.

Inusa Takda, Youth Leader Malkohi IPDs Host Community who spoke on behalf of the participants appreciated NHRC for the training and assured to step down the knowledge acquired for peace and harmony.
