Yobe Targets Major Overhaul of State Broadcasting Institutions
By Ahmed Abba
Yobe Government has begun a comprehensive overhaul of its information sector to strengthen television and radio broadcast capacity.
Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, Commissioner for Information, announced the initiative through his verified social media handle on Saturday.
He said a three-member delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, is in Glasgow, Scotland for a meeting with Clyde Broadcast.
Bego said the team also comprises Dr. Kole Shettima, Honourary Special Adviser to the Governor on Policy Delivery, and a representative of the state information sector.
He noted that Yobe State Television (YTV) and Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) had long faced difficulties delivering modern broadcast services.
According to him, the visit aims to secure advanced equipment and expert support to reposition the two organisations for contemporary broadcasting standards.
He added that the initiative will equip management and staff of YTV and YBC with tools required to improve service delivery and enhance global competitiveness.
