Yobe NUJ lauds NECAS for providing 55,000 hectares of land to farmers
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe Council, on Wednesday commended the North East Commodity Association(NECAS) for securing 55,000 hectares of land to 26,000 farmers across the state.
The Council’s Chairman, Mr Rajab Mohammed, made the commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Chairman of NECAS, Alhaji Nuhu Hassan, in Damaturu.
He said that the farmlands would be useful to the farmers during rainy and dry season farming.
Mohammed also commended the association for providing educational materials such as text/exercise books, mathematical sets, uniforms, sandals and school bags to 200 children of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Gujba Local Government Area.
He appealed to other organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the leadership of NECAS by complementing government’s effort towards the socio-economic development of the state.
In his remarks, Hassan thanked Mohammed and his team for recognising the modest contributions of the association in moving the state forward.
He said the association recently acquired 70 tractors brand of ‘John Deere’ and would soon provide same to the farmers for mechanised farming.
He said the group also provided farm inputs to the farmers including fertilizers, insecticide herbicides and water pumps for irrigation farming.
The NECAS chairman commended Gov. Mala Buni of Yobe for his unwavering support and encouragement to the association.
