Yobe Gov Mai Mala Buni on Thursday commissioned the construction of the 54km Ngalda-Mutai road.

Buni stated at the inauguration that phase 1 of the Gujba-Ngalda Road covering Gujba-Mutai was being executed by the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP).

He added that the phase II of the project which covers Ngalda-Mutai was to be executed by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).

“The construction of this road would obviously open up the rich agriculturally endowed communities, and facilitate easy movement of people, goods and services.

“It will stimulate more agricultural, commercial and economic activities in the benefitting communities.

“This project is therefore a commendable drive by the NEDC, which conforms to our development pursuit in the state.

“Such complementary interventions would certainly go a long way in impacting positively on the lives of our people” he said.

Buni commended President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the NEDC.

“I equally wish to appreciate the North-East Development Commission for this road project and others.

“I wish to also appreciate our good citizens for their support of government policies and programmes and urge you to continue to pray for improved security in our State, the North-East and indeed Nigeria as a whole.”

Buni called on politicians across all the political parties to avoid all forms of violence, inciting and hate speeches in the course of their campaigns.
