Mrs Hafsat Yerima, State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Yobe, has charged Corps members to be good ambassadors at their primary assignments at all times.

Yerima made the call at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ stream 1 Orientation course in Potiskum on Tuesday.

She enjoined Corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC, their families and institutions of graduation.

“You must be wary of any acts that can portray the Scheme in bad light, especially drug abuse and trafficking, cyber crime, advanced-fee-fraud and spreading of fake news, amongst others,”she said.

The coordinator urged them to avoid using social media for negative vices and promotion of hatred, while she cautioned against unauthorised journeys.

“If permitted to travel, you must avoid night trips, travelling at nights will not only increase the risk of accident, but also make rescue difficult.

“You are therefore, advised to always cut short your trips from six o’clock in the evening.

“And pass the night at any close by NYSC lodge, military barracks or other locations officially designated as safe.”

While congratulating the Corps members, the state coordinator urged them to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hardwork and resilience imbibed during the orientation course.

“It is my ardent hope that you will strive to meet the expectations of Nigerians by contributing your own quota towards the progress and development of our dear country,”she said
