Yobe Govt Rejuvenates Civil Service with Mass Recruitment and Training
The Yobe State Government has embarked on a comprehensive effort to revitalize its civil service through mass recruitment, targeted training, and continuous retraining.
Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Chief Information Officer at the Office of the Head of Service revealed this in a statement on Thursday in Damaturu.
He said the initiative, spearheaded by Governor Mai Mala Buni, aims to address challenges such as an aging workforce and skill gaps.
Mamudo said the government has recently recruited 3,370 degree, HND, NCE, and Diploma holders from across the state’s 178 political wards.
These newly employed individuals, primarily posted to the health and education sectors, have undergone an induction training program to equip them with essential skills and knowledge for effective public service delivery, he added.
According to him, Governor Buni has also prioritized the welfare of civil servants by approving the implementation of the N70,000 national minimum wage and increasing the monthly standing payment for gratuity from N100 million to N200 million.
Mamudo said the government has released N708 million for the payment of gratuity to local government retirees.
He explained that by investing in its workforce and implementing these strategic measures, the Yobe State Government seeks to create a more efficient, skilled, and motivated civil service that can effectively contribute to the state’s development.
