The Yobe First Movement (YFM) has distributed palliatives to orphans through the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Yobe State Branch, as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups in the state.

Malam Sadiq Muhammad, Coordinator of YFM, handed over the materials to the NURTW leadership on Saturday in Damaturu, stating that the gesture was aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by orphans.

“We are here today to distribute palliatives to orphans through the NURTW, Yobe State branch,” Muhammad said.

He disclosed that the items distributed included 40 pieces of women’s wrappers, 100 pieces of men’s clothing, and transportation allowances to enable beneficiaries to return to their respective local government areas.

In his remarks, Alhaji Goni Karomi, Chairman of NURTW in Yobe, thanked YFM for the donation, saying the materials would be given to orphans left behind by deceased members of the union.

He stressed the importance of assisting orphans, noting that such acts of kindness attract abundant rewards from Allah.

Karomi revealed that the union has over 30,000 members, with many losing their lives or becoming incapacitated due to accidents in the line of duty.

He appealed to government agencies, non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and individuals to emulate YFM’s gesture by supporting orphans and vulnerable families.

The chairman explained that beneficiaries were selected from across the 17 local government areas of the state to ensure equitable distribution.
