State Officials Inspect Facilities for Yobe–Fed Poly Almajiri Training Project

Yobe Government has partnered with the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu to train Almajirai in vocational trades aimed at improving self-reliance and economic integration.
A delegation from the government inspected facilities for the programme after the Rector, Dr Ibrahim Bello Bashir, met officials of the Ministries of Higher Education and Basic and Secondary Education to formalise the collaboration.
The team was led by the Executive Secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Mallam Umar Abubakar, and was received by officials of the Polytechnic, including the Special Assistant to the Rector, Suleman Abdullahi Zubair.
The visitors inspected the School of Health Sciences Lecture Hall and the Twin Lecture Theatre at the School of Engineering Technology earmarked for the training.
They also assessed trade centres at the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, which hosts units for tailoring, knitting, cosmetology, bed-making, welding and fabrication, interlocking, and automobile technology.
Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the institution’s preparedness and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the partnership to equip Almajirai with practical, employable skills.
Responding, the Rector said the Polytechnic was ready for the exercise and directed the Director of Works, Engr Abba Adam, to address identified gaps ahead of the Jan. 8, 2026 commencement date.
